Terms of Service
These terms govern your access to and use of the Hackhouse Residency platform and program. By applying, creating an account, or using the platform, you agree to them.

1.Who can use the platform
The platform is operated by Hackhouse Africa. Membership is invite-only and intended for founders, mentors, alumni, investors, and partners connected to the Hackhouse Residency. You must be at least 18 years old and provide accurate information. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.
2.The program
Hackhouse Residency is a fixed-term program delivered in cohorts. Admission is at our discretion based on your application. We may adjust the sprint content, schedule, mentors, and benefits to run the program well. Participation expectations include submitting your weekly check-ins (progress reports) and engaging in good faith.
3.Fees and payments
- Program fees are shown on your invoice in Kenyan Shillings (KES).
- Payments are processed by our payment provider via M-Pesa or card; by paying you also accept the provider's terms.
- Fees are due by the date on the invoice. Access may be limited for unpaid balances.
- Refunds, where offered, are handled case by case and communicated to you directly.
No equity. Hackhouse does not take equity in your company as a condition of the program.
4.Your content
You keep ownership of the content you post - your profile, reports, forum posts, and messages. You grant us a limited licence to host and display that content on the platform so the program and community can function. You are responsible for what you post and confirm you have the right to share it.
5.Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, defame, or discriminate against other members;
- Post unlawful, infringing, misleading, or malicious content;
- Spam, scrape, or misuse the community, messaging, or intro features;
- Share another member's private information or content without permission;
- Attempt to breach security, access data that is not yours, or disrupt the service.
The community and intro features connect you with other founders. Treat fellow members, their data, and their confidences with respect. We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these rules.
6.Confidentiality
You may encounter non-public information about other founders and their companies. Unless the owner agrees otherwise, keep it confidential and use it only to support each other within the program.
7.Intellectual property
The Hackhouse name, logo, platform, and materials are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable right to use the platform for the program. You may not copy, resell, or reverse-engineer it.
8.Suspension and termination
You may stop using the platform at any time and ask us to close your account. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, fail to pay, or to protect the community. Some content you posted may remain where others have relied on it, subject to our Privacy Policy and your data rights.
9.Disclaimers and liability
The program and platform are provided on a reasonable-efforts basis. We do not guarantee any specific business outcome, funding, or revenue. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
10.Privacy
Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
11.Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time; material changes will be dated above and, where appropriate, require your acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction over any dispute.
